About Johan Valencia
Johan Valencia (Colombia) is a Sound Artist and Researcher. His practice addresses the intersections between science, art, and technology, exploring soundscapes, bio-sonification, and protest machines.
Throughout my artistic, academic, and professional career, I have developed a line of work focused on exploring the intersections between science, art, and technology. I hold a Master's degree in Art Production and Research from the University of Granada, and I am currently pursuing a PhD in History and Arts at the same university. Additionally, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Visual Arts and a Chemical Technologist degree from Universidad del Valle.
Professionally, I have had the opportunity to exhibit my artwork in Spain, in exhibitions such as "Wounded world, dreamed world" and "Look, a plant" in Granada; in Colombia, I have exhibited at venues such as the National Museum, ARTBO, Museo La Tertulia, and the 17th Regional Salon of Artists, among others. Furthermore, I have participated in artistic residencies such as the José Guerrero Residency in Spain and the Bloc Residency in Bogotá. I have also been awarded creation grants such as those from the Ministry of Culture of Colombia and the Secretary of Culture of Cali.
