The war machine

Installation

The work seeks to point out the deaths generated in the exercise of power by an apparatus that calls itself "State", which reprimands, restricts, subdues, immobilizes and destroys. Its name, War Machine, is a concept by Deleuze and Guattari that opposes the concept of State and is based on polymorphic processes that go beyond territorial demarcation; alluding to this concept, the piece aims to highlight territory as the cause of the Colombian armed conflict.

This machine generates the marching action performed by the movement of rubber boots (waterproof footwear used in the jungle by peasants and paramilitaries). The continuous march refers to both the war machine and the anonymity of the individual, who regardless of their origin is part of the conflict; furthermore, it speaks of the thousands of peasants, leaders and students disappeared amid the violence experienced in Colombia.
